U.S. Silver Coins

National Coin provides a variety of different Silver Coins to choose from.

Silver Dollars

We offer quantities of U.S. Silver Dollars in several distinct grades:

  • Low Premium grade
  • VG to VF grade
  • Extra Fine grade
  • About Uncirculated grade
  • Brilliant Uncirculated grade

The Silver Dollars come in three different date categories, each with its own pricing structure depending on the grade:

  • 1878 to 1904 Morgan Silver Dollars
  • 1921 Morgan Silver Dollars
  • 1922 to 1935 Peace Silver Dollars

In higher grades, these three groups are certified by two private grading services, the NGC and PCGS, both highly respected throughout the coin business. They are certified in grades from MS61 to MS67 (MS stands for Mint State).

Silver Dimes, Quarters, & Half Dollars

Below the Silver Dollar category, we have US 90% Silver Dimes, Quarters, and Half Dollars (all 1964 and before). These silver coins come in bags of $50 face value and up to $1000 face value.

$1000 face value weighs about 55 lbs., so they can be delivered in two bags of $500 face each. This category offers you the smallest units of silver coins available, which is handy for bartering in case the day comes that it would be needed (e.g., power outages, natural disasters, banks and cash machines closed, etc.).

Note: $1000 face silver has 715 ounces of pure silver content.

Gold & Silver Eagles

Minted since 1986, Gold & Silver Eagles are the most beautiful coins produced by the U.S. Mint today.

Gold Eagles

The Gold Eagle 1-ounce coins are a welcome addition to the historic gold coins from the past. No gold coins had been minted since 1933, when the government did its best to call in gold coins, except ones that were considered collector coins and raised the then official price of gold.

Gold eagle coins are also available in smaller sizes, with 1/10th oz.,1/4 oz., and 1/2 oz. available at larger premiums than 1 oz. coins depending on their weights.

Silver Eagles

U.S. Silver Eagle coins contain 1-ounce pure silver and come in 20-piece plastic tubes from the U.S. Mint. The Mint ships them to distributor dealers in large green plastic boxes containing 500 pieces of Silver Eagles with 25 tubes of 20 pieces each. These boxes are available to investors who wish to buy a large quantity.

Note: We have rolls and 500-piece boxes in stock. Like its gold counterpart, we welcomed Silver Eagles back in 1986 because they were the first Silver Dollar-sized coin minted since 1935.

U.S. Gold Coins (pre-1933):

Semi-Numismatic & Numismatic Gold Coins

We sell semi-numismatic and rare numismatic collector gold coins from the past.

Liberty Head & Saint Gaudens $20 Gold Coins

Semi-numismatic gold refers to gold coins with higher mintages that are considered common dates and therefore more readily available. This category includes the popular Liberty Head and Saint Gaudens $20 gold coins that fall into the common date category.

Liberty Head coins were minted from 1850 to 1907. Common dates are usually available from 1900 to 1907.

Saint Gaudens were minted from 1908 to 1933. A handful of common date coins are readily available from 1922 to 1928, while dates in the 1930s are very rare.

Value

When Twenty-Dollar gold coins were minted, they were only worth $20, but they contained 1-ounce of pure gold (.9675 oz. to be exact). Yet, a twenty-dollar bill from back then is still only worth $20. Twenty-Dollar gold coins now sell for a premium over the market price of gold, from a smaller premium to a large premium depending on the grade and the rarity of the date.

A large amount of Twenty-Dollar gold, higher-grade pieces have been certified by PCGS and NGC grading services starting at MS61 and up to MS66 and MS67, as these higher grades carry a big premium over the going gold market price.

Our Recommendation

We recommend Liberty Head and Saint Gaudens $20 gold coins with common dates in grades MS61, MS62, and MS63 that have relatively low premiums above the market price of gold, considering their age and scarcity.

We also offer the smaller size Liberty and Indian Head gold coins starting with $1 Gold, $2 1/2 Gold, $3 Gold (rare), $5 Gold, and $10 Gold. These popular U.S. gold coins generally have higher premiums than $20 gold common dates.

Gold & Silver Canadian Maple Leaf Coins

National Coin carries both Gold and Silver Canadian Maple Leaf Coins.

Gold Canadian Maple Leaf Coins

National Coin proudly offers 1-ounce .9999 pure gold Canadian Maple Leaf coins. Their 24-karat gold content makes them one of the purest, official government-minted gold bullion coins in the world. Since 1979 (seven years before the U.S. minted their Gold Eagles), the government of Canada’s Royal Canadian Mint has minted Gold Maple Leafs annually. The Gold Canadian Maple Leaf coins are an excellent choice for owning gold bullion.

Silver Canadian Maple Leaf Coins

The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf, along with gold, is now minted with .9999 pure silver. The Silver Maple Leaf 1-ounce coins have been minted from 1988 to the present. They come directly from the Royal Canadian Mint in large yellow boxes containing 500 pieces. Silver Maple Leafs come in 20 plastic tubes with 25-pieces each.

Beautifully minted, Silver Maple Leafs feature one side picturing Queen Elizabeth and the date minted and the other side with a maple leaf and the .9999 purity label. The Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins are an excellent choice for owning silver bullion.

50+ Year Old Canadian 80% Silvers Dollars

Before the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf 1-ounce coins, the Canadian government minted 80% pure Silver Dollars from 1935 to 1967. These 50+ year old Silver Dollars are relatively hard to find in large quantities other than groups of rolls that had been put aside by collectors back in the 1960s.

Significance

When silver had its big rise (via the Hunt Brothers trying to corner the silver market in 1980), large quantities of 80% and 90% silver coins were melted down and sold in the form of large silver bars in the commodity market, which moved from under $10 per oz. to $50 per ounce in early 1980.

Canadian 80% Silver Dollars were a part of this meltdown, along with large amounts of U.S. Silver Dimes, Quarters, and Half Dollars. Therefore, we have been a big believer in these relatively inexpensive 50+ year old Canadian Silver Dollars last minted in 80% silver in 1967.

Dates

Common dates generally come between 1960 and 1967, which include two commemorative dates, 1964 and 1967. Unlike many dealers, we try to maintain a good inventory of these 50+ year old Canadian Silver Dollars in uncirculated and proof-like condition. We usually have a few thousand pieces available.
